So close,
yet so far away â?¦

Today was
the Hoosier Crossroads Conference tournament. When I was preparing for this
tournament a couple of days ago, I felt like I was hitting my irons and my
driver very well. When I arrived at the course and stepped out to the practice
tee, I felt the exact same way. I was so excited to play today. I could tell by
the way I was warming up that it was going to be a good day.

But â??? and,
of course, there is always a â??butâ? â??? I didnâ??t play to my potential. After the
first four holes, I was even. My last five holes on the front nine I bogeyed.
So I shot 41. I tried so hard to keep my mind clear of all the thoughts that
were running through it. I decided that I was going to finish out the back nine
as best as I could because I knew my team needed me.

But on the
10th hole, once again, I bogeyed. I wasnâ??t too worried about the bogey because
I knew I had eight more holes to birdie. So on the 11th hole, I hit
one of my best drives of the day. I stuck my iron shot 15 feet past the hole,
and I sank my birdie putt. That one putt got me excited for the back nine. So I
stepped up to the 12th tee, a par 3, and stuck my shot 4 feet from
the pin.

But my
luck had run out by then, and I missed my birdie opportunity. I finished out
the back side with a 37, two over par. I was upset because once again I didnâ??t
play up to my expectations. I ended up shooting a 78, good enough for
All-Conference. But to my surprise, once again, we lost. We got second place by
two strokes. Brownsburg won with a 307, we had a 309, and Noblesville had a
313.

That was
our last 18-hole tournament before sectionals. But on the bright side, everyone
on my team made All-Conference. Jessica Pigati stepped it up and shot a 76 to
lead our team. Christina Beyerl also had an awesome round with a 77. Autumn
Duke, Britney Martin, and I all shot 78. What more can you ask for in a team?

Our next
match is Aug. 30 at Stony Creek. In the next two weeks, my time is going to be
spent at the golf course getting ready for sectionals.
