According
to the Sagarin power ratings, there were 24 big games on tap in Week 7 of the
2006 Indiana
high school football season. There also were 27 teams that stood undefeated,
but that number now has shriveled by two.

With a nod
of thanks for better (though chillier and windier) weather, hereâ??s a review of
the big games from Week 7:

Northern Indiana

COMMENT:
Humminuh, humminuh, HUMMINUH! Oh wait, look at that score from last year. Evidently,
holding Avon â??? which led 38-17 going into the
fourth quarter â??? to less than 55 points is the key.

COMMENT:
I am sensing a theme here â?¦ looks like the defenses across the state may have
gotten left on the bus.

Thatâ??s 28-0, 50-0, 55-0, 69-0, and 31-0 shutout victories wrapped around a
45-12 squeaker for the Falcons, in case you were wondering.

SERIES LAST 10 YEARS: Fort Wayne Dwenger, 9-1.
FINAL: Dwenger
35, Concordia 7
COMMENT:
With Sniderâ??s second in-city upset loss (see below), Saints make sure that some

other conqueror, Concordia.

Sep. 30, 2005.
SERIES LAST 10 YEARS: Harding,
7-3.
FINAL: Harding
43, North 14
COMMENT:
Hmmm, that strength of schedule seems to finally be paying off for Harding. The
Hawks took their lumps early in 21-point losses to 4A Dwenger and 5A Snider but
have bounced back with back-to-back-to-back pummelings of 4A Wayne, 5A Northrop, and 4A North.

GAME TIME: 7 pm ET, Weicker Stadium.
COACHES: Russ Isaacs, 168-26 in 16th
year at Fort Wayne Snider. Mike Cheviron, 4-2 in 1st year at Fort Wayne South,

SERIES LAST 10 YEARS: Fort Wayne Snider, 12-0.
FINAL: South
20, Snider 17
COMMENT:
I guess we should have seen his coming with Snider having survived by only
seven points a year ago, but it still seems weird to see the Panthers losing to
other Fort Wayne schools, donâ??t it?

GAME TIME: 6:30 pm CT, Amzi Miller Field.
COACHES: Justin Bogunia, 58-41 in 9th
year at John Glenn. Bart Curtis, 71-34 in 10th year at New Prairie, 98-63 in

2005.
SERIES LAST 10 YEARS: Jimtown,

FINAL: Jimtown

COMMENT:
Jimmies, whose only setbacks are to New Prairie and Concord, figure to flatten last two opponents
and be 7-2 heading into 2A title defense.

COMMENT:
Holy shutout, Batman! The Warriors, spiked by a gorgeous goal-line stand that
prevented Carmel
from tying the game at 7, play shutdown defense, holding high-powered Aaron
King to just 34 yards on 17 carries. For you numbers freaks, thatâ??s ONE HUNDRED
SIXTY less than he was averaging.

COMMENT:
If you believe in karma, this Pirate win comes as no surprise â??? after all,

With Sheridan a

COMMENT:
The Warriors have dropped two games â??? the first at unbeaten Plainfield and the second at unbeaten Mooresville.
Wonâ??t it be a treat, then, for the Hoosier Authority Fan Wagon to roll into Plainfield next Friday

COMMENT:
Oops! The Hoosier Authority Fan Wagon trekked three hours each way for this
supposed Pocket Conference juggernaut, but the hosts laid an egg. No matter. The
Raiders should be able to hang on to second place in a league where Heritage
Hills hasnâ??t lost since 1998 â??? ironically, at Southridge in overtime).

2005.
SERIES LAST 10 YEARS: Providence, 1-0.
FINAL: South
Spencer 21, Providence
14 (OT)
COMMENT:
The power numbers predicted a double-digit Providence win, so this is somewhat of an
eyebrow raiser. Then again, the pride of Rockport is accustomed to tough games via
having to play in the Pocket (Heritage Hills, Southridge, Tell City,
Gibson Southern).

GAME TIME: 7 pm ET, North Harrison (WKLO, 96.9
FM).
