Construction is well on its
way in Jasper. |
Things are
going well on the expansion of the Indiana Baseball Hall of Fame in
Jasper. The roof is on, the brick on the building is now completed, and
the floor is poured. Next is the fitting out of the inside, put plywood
on and do dry wall, and then get it finished and painted.
Once that is done, we will begin to prepare the inside for the displays.
The company doing the interactive exhibits has ordered the equipment
needed to complete task. We have received donations of $5,000 to the
Hall of Fame, and that will be used to help pay the design folks. A
friend who owns a television business is donating a 42-inch flat screen
TV to be used with the â??You Make the Callâ? display where a visitor sees
pitches and plays umpire by â??making the call.â? Some great sound effects
accompany this display: boos, â??C’mon, Blue!â? etc.
The same fella is donating a 23-inch monitor that will welcome folks
at the Hall entrance via a recording by Carl Erskine. Tommy John will
add a recorded welcome to the loop when he plays in our October golf
classic in. We have also asked Scott Rolen if he would consent to doing
one as well.
I am receiving some hats from schools for the display, but weâ??re a long way from 384!
Weâ??d like to give 18-inch bats to everyone involved with the
expansion: the IHSBCA, those who helped from IHSAA, local assistance
folks, and maybe all current Hall of Famers.
I will keep you updated!
