IHSAA Commissioner Blake Ress announced June 25 a one-year agreement
with the Muncie Visitors Bureau and Ball State University
to serve as host of the 2007 IHSAA Volleyball State Finals. The
agreement was approved by the IHSAA Executive Committee at its June
21 meeting.

The 36th annual state finals will be played
Saturday, Nov. 3, with Ball
State Universityâ??s
Worthen Arena hosting all four state championship
matches as well as the Class A state semifinals earlier that day. The Class 4A
semifinal matches will be played at Yorktown High School,
the 3A semifinals will be at Muncie Central High School,
and the 2A semis will be at Delta
High School.

â??The Muncie
area is well-known across our state as well as the country as a hotbed for
volleyball, and weâ??re very excited to have that community host the state finals
this fall, Ress said.

â??We are truly excited to partner with Ball
State University
to bring the IHSAA girls state volleyball finals to the Muncie community, said Jim Mansfield,
executive director of the Muncie Visitors Bureau. â??The Ball State
campus is a wonderful venue to host an event of this magnitude, and I
anticipate every session will be a sellout, given the popularity and success
this area has seen with girls volleyball.

â??Iâ??m confident the Muncie
community will embrace this event to provide an outstanding and positive
experience for the teams and fans of girls high school volleyball.

â??I am so pleased that the IHSAA will bring the girls volleyball finals
to the Ball State campus, said Ball State
University President Jo Ann M. Gora.â??This
event, and its positive economic impact, demonstrates a growing collaboration
between the university and the Muncie
community at large.

â??We are pleased to play a role in bringing these outstanding competitors
to Muncie.

Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, which had been the site of the
state championship matches since 2001, was not available to host this yearâ??s
event.
