Barr-Reeve increases its lead in the latest small school poll, while West Lafayette is the new top dog in the medium school division.

Coach Bob Swank of South Knox and his panel have once again taken charge and are relentlessly working to recognize some of Indiana’s small and medium division schools.  Here are the rankings for week 2:

SMALL SCHOOL BOYS

In the small school boys division, the top five teams remain identical to last week’s poll.  Perry Central
had a very fine meet at the Boonville Invitational, but it did not seem to sway the voters.  Apparently
they put more weight on Barr Reeve’s head to head win over Perry Central the previous week at LaVern Gibson. Both teams seem to have a legitimate shot at getting back to LaVern Gibson on October 27th.  The two top 10 newcomers (South Knox and Rising Sun) used strong performances on Saturday to help their cause.  South Knox at the Riverton Parke Invitational and Rising Sun at Rushville.

1  Barr Reeve      60  (6)
2  Perry Central   54
3  Carroll (Flora) 39
4  Dubois          38
5  Clay City       37
6  Kouts           31
7  South Knox      22
8  Pioneer         13
9  Northfield      12
10 Rising Sun       7
Others Receiving Votes:  North Central (Farmersburg) 4, Shakamak 3,
North Vermillion 3, Hebron 2, Morgan Township 2,
Clinton Prairie 2, Monroe Central 1

MEDIUM SCHOOL BOYS

Oak Hill dropped from 1st to 4th as they have not yet run as expected.  They always come on strong at the end of the year though, so teams should be prepared for them to challenge for the top again.  There was a substantial amount of disagreement among pollsters as to who should replace Oak Hill, as three different teams received first place votes.  West Lafayette, Andrean and Silver Creek have all run very well so far and took the top three spots respectively.

1  West Lafayette            67  (4)
2  Andrean                   61  (2)
3  Silver Creek              57  (1)
4  Oak Hill                  44
5  West Noble                38
6  Tell City              31
7  New Prairie         25
8  South Bend St. Joseph’s 17
9  Norwell                   15
10 Heritage Christian        10
Others Receiving Votes:  Western 5, Yorktown 3, Blackford 3, North
Harrison 2, John Glenn 1
