The 3rd Annual Race to Recovery, a 5-kilometer run & walk to benefit Brownsburg cross country and track & field coach Bret Neylon, is set for July 26 at a new location this year: Brownsburg East Middle School.

The event will get under way at 9 a.m. ET. The top three males and females in the overall and masters divisions will receive awards as well as the top two in each age group (run only). Also receiving an award will be the participant with the top pledge monies turned in on race day.

Age groups are 10 & under, 11-13, 14-16, 17-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+.

This year’s benefit race will raise money for both Neylon and John Wassen to assist with spinal cord rehabilitation and continuing medical costs through the NTAF Great Lakes Spinal Cord Injury Fund.

Neylon is the varsity cross country and track & field coach, teacher, and friend to many in the Brownsburg community. He was involved in a very serious accident in a bicycle race June 17, 2006, resulting in a C4 vertebrae fracture.

Wassen has been a carpenter and beloved member of the Brownsburg community. He sustained a C5 spinal cord injury after a fall from the second story of a house Aug. 19, 2007.

Brownsburg Middle School is located at 1250 East Airport Road. Participants should enter Door #12 on the north side of the school.

Cost is $20 on or before July 21, $25 race day. Those registering by the July 21 deadline will receive a T-shirt.

The schedule (all times ET):

•    Registration & Packet Pick-Up: 7 to 8:45 a.m.
•    Opening Ceremony: 8:40 a.m.
