Plainfield served notice that the Class 4A eighth-ranked Quakers will be a force to be reckoned with this year in the Mid-State Conference with a 28-7 opening-night drubbing of Hendricks county rival 3A No. 11 Danville. The Quakers opened their new stadium Aug. 22 with a devastating rushing attack and a ball-hawking defense.

Plainfield opened the scoring in the opening period with a 46-yard punt return for touchdown from senior Kevin Mucho, who dazzled the facility’s fans with a 68-yard jaunt in the second quarter that preceded a long fumble return for TD by senior linebacker Corey Cragen.
That made it 21-0 at halftime, after which Danville got on the board on a 12-yard pass from junior quarterback Trent Shaffer to junior wide receiver Calvin Beasley. Two rushing TDs from senior tailback Zane Fakes (a 30-yarder in the third period, a one-yarder in the fourth) then finished off the scoring.
