CLASS 5A
This week’s Class 5A rankings features several newcomers, and a former No. 1 is no longer in the Top 10.

Carmel moves into the top spot thanks to the combination of its win over Indianapolis Cathedral and the 42-0 pasting given by Warren Central to Merrillville. Warren leapfrogged over several schools, including Pike, to grab the No. 3 spot.

Elsewhere, Hamilton Southeastern moves up to sixth after its wild win over Avon in the final game last weekend at Lucas Oil Stadium. Franklin Central, Fort Wayne Snider, and Ben Davis all make appearances this week after big wins last week. And Penn drops from fifth to 10th after an upset loss to Valparaiso that saw the Kingsmen score only nine points.

Rockville survived Wabash River Conference rival Seeger despite giving up several big plays on defense. Lafayette Central Catholic proved that two-platoon football can work at the 1A level with a huge win over Delphi. And both Churubusco and North Miami make their debuts in the Top 10 this week after impressive showings last week.
