The Indiana High School Swim Coaches’ Association has
released its preseason poll for the 2008-09 girls swimming season, and 22-time
state champion Carmel leads the pack as we move toward the 2008-09 season.
Based on a theoretical scoring system from a 16-place
meet using the times/scores of the returning Top 20 individuals from sectionals
and state finals as well as the best regular-season times of the 2007-08
season, the Greyhounds tallied 217 points.
That put them well up on two-time defending state runner-up
Hamilton Southeastern (167), with Center Grove (93) a fair pace back in third, 1985
state champion Columbus North (84) fourth, and Homestead (83) fifth. Relays and
diving will not be incorporated into the ratings system until the third week of
the upcoming regular season.

school and vote total. The IHSSCA’s
