The Associated Press has released its 10th set of polls for the 2008-09 boys basketball season, and defending Class 2A state champion Fort Wayne Luers is back at No. 1. The Knights move up from third to take over for previous leader Tipton, which lost by a point to 4A Kokomo.
The three other top-ranked teams from last week (4A Bloomington South, 3A Princeton, 1A Triton) stay the same. But there’s plenty of movement all over the place nonetheless.
4A: New Albany goes from third to second, Lawrence North moves from fifth to third, Munster rises from 11th into a tie for ninth with Fort Wayne Snider, and Zionsville finally enters the rankings at No. 15.
3A: Evansville Memorial bumps from third to second, Southridge goes from sixth to fourth, Batesville moves from seventh to fifth, Fort Wayne Dwenger ascends from ninth to seventh, and Rochester enters the Top 10 up from 11th to 10th. Also four new teams are new this week: Leo (15th), Brebeuf (tied for 16th with Salem), and Lakeland and Fort Wayne Elmhurst (tied for 18th).
2A: Winchester enters the Top 10 up from 11th to No. 10, while Madison-Grant is new at 17th.
1A: Jac-Cen-Del steps up one spot from fourth to third, Monroe Central rises from eighth to fifth, and South Decatur goes from 10th to ninth. Also, North Daviess is new at 10th, Bethesda Christian is new at 15th, and Lakewood Park Christian is new at 16th.
