The Indiana High School Golf Coaches Association has released its third set of rankings for the 2009-10 season, and the news this time around is Carmel’s closing of the gap with top-ranked Roncalli.
Following a two-stroke win Aug. 24 over the Rebels in a three-way match hosted by Warren Central, Carmel moves up one space into second. The ’Hounds trade spots with defending state champion Hamilton Southeastern, with Martinsville and Columbus North maintaining their previous locations at Nos. 4-5.
Penn is this week’s big mover-upper of significance as the Kingsmen rise from 11th to seventh, while Fishers ascends from 26th to 20th. Jasper is the lone school new to the rankings this week at No. 25, while a trio of schools drops out: Bloomington South, Greensburg, and Warsaw.
