The Indiana Football Coaches Association has released its sixth set of polls for the 2009 campaign, and the news this week is we have a new No. 1 in Class 5A as Carmel swaps spots with Penn in moving from second to first.
The other four leaders from last week – 4A Indianapolis Cathedral, 3A Indianapolis Chatard, 2A Indianapolis Ritter, and 1A Lafayette Central Catholic – all stay where they were at. But, as usual, there’s lots goin’ on in other places (especially in 2A) …
5A: Carmel swaps spots with Penn in moving from second to first, while Ben Davis does the same with Center Grove in going from sixth to fifth.
4A: Concord and Shelbyville move up one spot from ninth and 10th to eighth and ninth, respectively, while Hammond Morton bumps up three spots in entering the Top 10 at No. 10.
3A: Bellmont and Heritage Hills move up one spot from fifth and sixth to fourth and fifth, respectively; Harding and North Montgomery each bump up two places to seventh and eighth in moving from ninth and 10th; Lakeland moves up one notch from 11th into the Top 10 at No. 10.
2A: Fairfield rises two spots from fourth to second, South Spencer ascends three places in going from sixth to third, Paoli bumps up one spot from fifth to fourth, Monrovia moves all the way from eighth to fifth, and Wheeler and Southridge move up two and three spots, respectively, in going to ninth and 10th.
1A: Culver Community rises from 11th to eighth, while Southern Wells swaps spots with Linton in going from 10th to ninth.
