Uncle Mike's Football Notebook: Week 7

By Mike McGraw
Executive Director

Uncle Mike actually ventured forth into that good
night Sept. 28 to attend a high school football game! (Of course, he missed a
good deal of the action when he left the press box before halftime to go
potty.) Regardless of his timing, here are his Week 7 ramblings

Northern Indiana
Fairfield 47, Lakeland
9
Different
year, but this game tells the same story as last season. Fairfield
is a contender and Lakeland
 isnt

Fort Wayne Snider 21, Fort Wayne
Luers 17
Admit it.
Thats a LOT closer than you thought it was going to be.

New Prairie 28, Glenn 27
Whale of a
game in the If It Wasnt For Jimtown We Might Be Able To Win This Conference Bowl.

North Miami 22, Whitko 6
Warriors
aint flashy, but they keep winning.

Norwell 27, DeKalb 7
It may not
be a banner year for the Knights, but I just have a feeling they have at least
one upset in them come tourney time.

Rochester 14, Tippecanoe
Valley
13
Are you
kidding me? The cheerleaders from these two teams score more points that that.
Seriously now, what happened in the last three quarters?

South Bend Adams 20, Martinsville
8
WOW. I
guess Elmer Britton can bring any place back from the dead. This is impressive
ââ?¬â?? and not just from a bizarre scheduling standpoint.

Central Indiana
Carmel 42, Warren
Central 35
It was a
classic. (Editorââ?¬â?¢s note ââ?¬â?? Mike, no. Really. Stop spending so much time thinking
up your witticisms when they get all lengthy like this one. Dont you LIVE in Carmel? Homer!!!!)

Center Grove 37, Ben Davis 7
All right
all right, Im a believer already. The Trojans are a lot like that girl you
wound up having to take to the prom. They arent the prettiest girl in town,
but they are the prettiest one that would say yes. (Editorââ?¬â?¢s note ââ?¬â?? At least
Mike didnt mention a westside ******* watch this week.)

Columbus North 38, Perry
Meridian 0
Im
betting Pike doesnt get a Christmas card from Perry Meridian this year.

Elwood 27, Madison-Grant 21
Biggest win
for the Panthers in quite awhile.

Hamilton Southeastern 35,
Noblesville 12
Dont look
now, but the Royals are starting to put it together.

Sheridan 16, Tipton 14
The real
message from this score is that Week 9 between Sheridan
and West Lafayette
is going to be a great, great football game.

Shelbyville 34, New Palestine 19
The
Hoosier Heritage is no slouch league, and the Golden Bears are for real.

Southern Indiana
Providence 61, Gary Roosevelt
18
Thats a
long way to travel to get your butts kicked that bad. The Tigers could have accomplished
the same thing by driving three miles to Griffith.

Princeton 21, Boonville 13
Tiger fans,
rejoice! That is now three wins in your last 29 games.

Jeffersonville 47, New Albany
13
I am
starting to think next weeks Jeffersonville-Columbus East game might just be
worth watching.

Batesville 26, Greensburg 17
Yeah, but
Honda hasnt opened yet.
