GSw RANKINGS: Little turnover up top in second girls swimming poll

By E. Shawn Aylsworth
Managing Editor
The Indiana High School Swim Coaches’ Association has released its second poll for the 2009-10 girls swimming season, and the Top 10 teams remain unchanged from the preseason rankings.
Your leader still is 23-time defending state champion Carmel, which has slightly increased its lead over No. 2 Hamilton Southeastern. Noblesville, Center Grove, and Chesterton remain static in rounding out the first five.
Three schools, meanwhile, are making moves a little further down the list. Mount Vernon (Posey) moves from 32nd to 21st, Greenwood goes from 43rd to 26th, and Valparaiso debuts at No. 29.
Rankings at this point of the season are based on a theoretical scoring system from a 16-place meet using the times/scores of the returning Top 20 individuals from sectionals and state finals as well as the best regular-season times of the 2008-09 season. (Relays and diving will not be incorporated into the ratings system until next week.)
